Origin to speak on 'Future of Video 2022' panel, hosted by Parks Associates


In today’s ultra-competitive environment, video services often lack adequate data about their core audience and their usage behaviors. This lack of relevant and actionable data can cause services to operate inefficiently, target the wrong segments, lose engagement with viewers, and increase churn rate.


Opinions of the advertising UX remain largely unfavorable for #ott#AVOD services. Frustration with the advertising experience remains the most significant barrier for prolonged viewer exposure.


44% of households cite undesirable and frequent advertising as an issue and a third report they stop viewing entirely when an ad is repeated. Interestingly, a third of viewers say ads are naturally incorporated within the programming. This bodes well for ad-supported free services like Peacock that heavily feature library content migrated from broadcast channels with established ad-breaks.


It also speaks to the uptick in the popularity of free live linear services that run ads within their programming.
